Pandora’s Music Box

As I type this, I am listening to some cool music from the Music Genome Project. Went to Pandora.com (thanks Jeff) and typed in what I wanted and they loaded me up with that and everything like it. You want personalized radio? This is it. Get the $15 software (PandoraJam) and it will automatically record your choices into iTunes for you. Sounds like the future of music is

forking in the road, yet again. Check it out.

Will Glaser, Jon Kraft and Tim Westergren created the Music Genome Project in 2000 to “capture the essence of music at the fundamental level.” I’d say they succeeded. It’s complicated and involves math and algorithms and other stuff I have no idea how to explain. But it works. Type in a song or artist and Pandora finds that song or artist and similar alternatives and plays them right there. Very cool. You can rate them (thumbs up or thumbs down) and organize them into your own radio station.

An idiot can do it, which means it’s perfect for me and other people in advertising. If nothing else, it’s interesting to see just how many other groups now sound like Rascal Flatts.
